Teardown of a cross cut shredder. What’s inside a crosscut shredder it’s a paper shredder we’ll pull it apart to see how it works. We’re in Australia and one amp so that means power cause current times voltage so about 240 watts. It’s a 240 watt motor and it’s a universal motor actually but it will be geared down quite dramatically. It looks like about five teeth on two maybe on a twenty five teeth that will give a reduction of five that’s got a direct on to a small cove under a big cog. It’s a direct current motor but instead of permanent magnets it’s actually got electromagnets. What actually happens on AC is that the current reverses in the field maintenance. It’s possible that you can have a motor that runs both on alternating current and direct current.
